On the world stage for one night only

POP band Westlife will play to fans in far-flung lands when they stream a live performance around the world today.

The Irish pop stars will take to the stage of The O2 in Dublin tonight for a special performance which will be broadcast on the internet.
A lucky 1,000 fans will be in the venue for the stripped-down set which will comprise eight of the group's biggest hits.

"It's our first gig in the O2, which makes it pretty special but completely live as well. So if anyone messes up, it will go out around the world," said Nicky Byrne.
This is only the second time a gig at the new venue in Dublin's Docklands has been streamed onto the internet , following a performance by Scottish band Biffy Clyro earlier in the year.
O2 are mounting the online Westlife spectacular with a view to broadcasting more concerts in the future.
"We're the guinea pigs," joked Byrne.
The concert is on o2blueroom.ie this evening for a charge of €5.
