Westlife To Compete In JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am

Irish boy band, Westlife have confirmed they will play golf in the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am on the 5th and 6th July 2010.

The band will join a host of leading celebrities including Hugh Grant, Samuel L. Jackson, Aidan Quinn, Michael Flatley and Kyle McLachlan along with sporting greats such as AP McCoy, Martin O’Neill, Niall Quinn, Paul O’Connell, Harry and Jamie Redknapp at Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort next month.

Westlife are possibly the most recognisable Irish faces on the planet with band members Mark Feehily, Shane Filan, Kian Egan, and Nicky Byrne. Since their formation in July 1998, Westlife have gone on to sell over 44 million records worldwide. They have come a long way since their beginnings and have managed to garner 14 number one singles in the United Kingdom, the third-highest in UK history, tying with Cliff Richard and trailing behind only Elvis Presley and The Beatles. The Westlife lads have now returned to centre stage with their 10th album ‘Where We Are’ and a tour of the same name kicked off this month.

Commenting on the announcement, Tournament host, JP McManus said; “We are delighted that Westlife are joining us to play in the Pro Am. They will add great excitement and we very much appreciate the time and support they are giving to the event. With only six weeks to go before the tournament, the anticipation is already building and to date, we have sold over 24,000 entrance caps with only 6,000 remaining. We would therefore urge people to purchase their caps as soon as possible to avoid disappointment”.

The aim of the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am is to support mid-western charities and groups in their work with the underprivileged and disadvantaged. All proceeds are donated in their entirety towards the development of these services .

JP McManus said: "We're delighted JB, Rickie and John have all agreed to play in the tournament. JB and Rickie are two of the most exciting young players on tour and we are sure they will make a major connection with the Irish crowds at Adare Manor. John is an old friend of Irish golf fans, remains as popular as ever and we appreciate his support for the tournament."

Spectators can choose from one of eight different coloured “two-day entrance caps” representing Ireland, Munster Rugby and each of the Munster counties.

At a cost of €50 for both days, they can be purchased from the website on www.jpmcmanusproam.com or at selected retail outlets.
